Learning from Leaders
Learning from our Leaders
Akijul invests in studying and learning from African leaders who have been able to effect change in their communities; grow and develop strong institutions that are continuously addressing critical social justice and development issues; as well as demonstrate and inspire others through their example.
At a time when there are leadership transitions in various institutions on the continent, and also a number of new organizations being established by a younger generation of leaders, there is need to provide appropriate and enabling leadership development support. Whilst there are some organizations carrying out training and providing other forms of leadership support, information and resources on effective African leadership are limited.
Through ‘Learning From our Leaders’, Akijul identifies African leaders from diverse fields, and through a series of interviews, observations and reflections with these leaders, their teams and/or constituencies and colleagues, we document their experiences, analyze this information and use it to identify good practices, leadership styles, and lessons that will inform a repertoire of contextual and catalytic interventions.
